This two-day camp runs December 30th-31st from 1:00-4:00pm at Encore Eagle. Recommended for ages 8-12.
This workshop is perfect for young artists ready to take their drawing skills to the next level! Using classic still-life forms, students will learn how to observe and draw the effects of light and shadow on different shapes, just like in professional studies of value and shading. We’ll explore techniques to create depth, form, and realistic texture using charcoal, focusing on key concepts like highlights, midtones, and shadows.
Through guided practice with exercises and finished still-life compositions, students will build confidence in rendering objects with three-dimensional qualities and develop a strong foundation in value drawing. By the end of the class, each student will complete their own shaded drawings inspired by real-life objects, enhancing their understanding of realistic drawing.

We will spend the first day using basic hand building techniques to make a basic, gently customizable mug. The second day of class will be spent glazing the mugs in the colors and designs each student chooses. The mugs will then be taken and fired and returned within a maximum of 10 business days to the Eagle Encore center to be picked up by the students at their convenience.
